NHL Predictions 10/14

Season Record (Winning Teams): 27-22

Season Record (Full Predictions) : 2-47

I've missed a few days being a bit under the weather, and with the fact that it was my birthday the other day (yay, turning 31 is so fantastic :insert sarcasm here:) made it a bit more difficult to get back on track after a long weekend. However, I am back now, and jumping right into tonight's contests.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Los Angeles at New York Rangers 7PM

A battle of two teams that are off to very hot starts takes place tonight in the big city otherwise known as Manhattan. Erik Ersberg get's the nod for the Kings in what will be his first start of the season as he goes up against Henrik Lundqvist and the New York Rangers. Both teams currently sit atop their respective conferences early on this season and are hoping that their hot starts are no fluke. Two teams that have everything going for them right now look to end the others hot streak. This, for sure, is the game of the night for this evening.

Final Rangers 3 Kings 2 F/OT

Pittsburgh Penguins at Carolina Hurricanes 7PM

The Penguins have picked up right where they ended last season: Winning! The Hurricanes, on the other hand, have had some early season issues and are looking to find a way to win as they play host to the defending Stanley Cup Champs tonight in Raleigh. The team from the weakest division in the conference plays the best team from the best division in the conference. Will hockey prove tonight why it is a sport that can not have a given, solid answer on who will win? I doubt that with the Champs in action.

Final - Penguins 3 Hurricanes 1

Edmonton at Chicago 8:30 PM

Although Jeff Drouin-Deslauriers had a stellar start in his first game of the season the other night, it's pretty obvious that he is the back up to Khabibulin who get's the nod tonight for the Oilers as they travel to the Windy City to take on the Blackhawks. The Hawks are coming off an insane comeback victory over the Calgary Flames most recently, and are hoping to build from the momentum gained in that game. Antti Niemi, who won the backup job for the Hawks out of training camp, might have a different titile depending on his performance this evening. Cristobal Huet has been very poor early on this season, and it does not seem as if anything has changed from last season with his game. Trouble brewing in Chicago? Goaltending controversy? These questions could be answered tonight.

Final - Hawks 4 Oilers 2

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Nasvhille at Dallas 8:30 PM

A battle of disgruntled offenses takes place tonight in the lone star state. The Predators come to town with questions marks up and down the rosters forward units. Where is the scoring going to come from? The Stars hope to have the Preds continuing to ask these same questions after tonight is finished. The Stars are also looking to turn their own game up a notch, and get on the winning track. Ellis against Turco is a fun match-up to watch if you are a goalie fanatic like myself.

Final - Stars 3 Preds 2 F/OT

Minnesota at Anaheim 10PM

The Western Conference is a fun Conference, especially with the way it has started early in this new season. The Ducks are a team that all the "experts" feel can come out of the West at the end of this Hockey season, and so far, they are looking pretty good. The Wild have some issues that need to be responded to. PM Bouchard is out for an unknown period of time, and this has caused an issue with the offense for the Wild. To speak of goaltenders again, Hiller vs Backstrom should be a fine duel to watch this evening, and how lucky we are that it's the late game of the day. It rounds out a pretty nice night of hockey for us tonight.

Final - Ducks 4 Wild 2

Enjoy the games!
