NHL Predictions 10/22

Season Record (Winning Teams): 37-26

Season Record (Full Predictions) : 2-61

Splits-ville last night, going 3 and 3 in the Win/Loss column for my predictions. Somewhat of a strange night, and congrats to the New York Islanders on getting their first Win of the season. That leaves only the Leafs without a win thus far.

Onto tonight:

-------------------------------------------------------------------

New Jersey at New York Rangers 7PM

If there is one team that loves to play the Devils, and two players especially, it is the New York Rangers, Henrik Lundqvist and Sean Avery. Tonight, at MSG, the Rangers will play host to their Atlantic Division rival New Jersey Devils. The thorn in the side of Martin Brodeur is none other then the "pest" Sean Avery. If he can accomplish what he does every time these two teams play, Rangers prevail.

Final - Rangers 3 Devils 1

-------------------------------------------------------------------

New York Islanders at Montreal 7PM

The New York Islanders got their first win of the season last night, however, they travel to Montreal tonight to take on a Canadiens team that is very desperate to post back to back victories. Sure, the rumors are flying out of Montreal, but that means nothing right now. Tonight, it's two teams on the ice to do battle, and one team that must come out victorious is the Habs. In Tavares' first appearance in Montreal, it's up to the Habs to play the same way they did against the Thrashers in order to come out on top in this one. Don't be surprised if the Islanders get another point, which means the trend continues for Montreal as well.

Final - Habs 3 Isles 2 F/OT

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Boston at Philadelphia 7PM

Winter Classic preview goes tonight as the Bruins, coming off a victory, travel to Philadelphia to take on the Flyers. In what should be an easy victory for the Broad Street Buillies, you can never count any team out. The Bruins are in Ruins right now, with two huge injuries, and that could hurt them against a healthy, and well rested Flyers club. I think the Flyers walk over the B's tonight.

Final - Flyers 4 Bruins 1

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Washington at Atlanta 7PM

A southeast division battle of the surprising Atlanta Thrashers against the high octane powered offense of the Washington Capitals. Will tonight be a battle of two teams, or two russian superstars: the great #8 against the next potential $100 million man. Alex Ovechkin goes up against Ilya Kovalchuk and that could be more of the hot situation to take some of the focus on the complete game. Don't be surprised to see "somewhat" of an upset this evening.

Final - Thrashers 4 Capitals 3

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Nashville at Ottawa 7:30 PM

Nashville needs every player that is healthy and on this roster to seriously step it up as they travel from Boston to Ottawa for tonight. The Senators have finally found a goaltending tandem that could lead them into the playoffs, as long as Leclaire stays healthy. In what could be a very lopsided affair (although I think the goaltending and defense of Nashville will keep that statement from being a valid prediction) the Preds will not be able to match up with the Senators. who will win outright tonight.

Final - Senators 3 Predators 1

-------------------------------------------------------------------

San Jose at Tampa 7:30 PM

The Bolts play host to the Sharks tonight. San Jose looks to continue it's road winning ways by recently taking care of both metro area New York teams . The Lightning are yet to get Vinny going and look to do so by reuniting him with Martin St. Louis. Swimming down south to face the Bolts should be something that the Sharks find easily: taking a bite out of the Bolts.

Final - Sharks 5 Lightning 2

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Columbus at Edmonton 9:30 PM

The Oilers will welcome the BJ's to Alberta where they hope to end this home stand undefeated. In hopes of getting a "BJ" (let's not get out of hand here folks), the Oilers will attempt to stand tall in front of "Khabi" and have a complete team effort have them prevail. On the other "hand", the Jackets hope to have a comeback game and head to Anaheim on the winning track. In what should be a fun Western Confernce match up with two stellar net minders for each club, I expect a low scoring affair.

Final - Jackets 3 Oilers 2

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Detroit at Phoenix 10 PM

The Red Wings travel to the desert to take on the Coyotes. The Red Wings are looking to find ways to right the ship with some serious players missing from the line up, weather it was from off-season departures, or early season injuries. The Coyotes, with Ilya Bryzgalov leading the way, are hoping to continue their great start to this season. The Wings will have other things in mind for tonight, as they take the heat out of the desert.

Final - Wings 4 Coyotes 3 F/SO

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Dallas at Los Angeles 10:30 PM

Well, the Stars made me put my foot in my mouth last night, however, I do not think they do the same tonight, especially playing in back to back contests. The Kings have a new second and third line for tonight, which should make things even more interesting. Should be a home ice victory, "should" be! Again, I just think the Stars stink (sorry again Dallas fans).

Final - Kings 4 Stars 2

enjoy the night!
