NHL Predictions 10/6

Season Record (Full Predictions) : 1-24

Season Record (Winning Teams): 14-10

I am so surprised by the start of the season for the Canucks. Maybe I am even more surprised that the Blue Jackets are 2-0 and Steve Mason looks like a man possessed between the pipes. The kids are for sure alright in New York, and the future looks bright as well. Tonight, we have a decent Tuesday line up for all you NHL fanatics. Let's see what my future tells for this evening:

Ottawa at Toronto 7:00 PM

The wait for the "Monster" to get his first start in the NHL is over Toronto fans. Gustavsson gets the nod tonight at home as the Maple Leafs welcome the Senators and the battle of Ontairo begins. Can Cory Clouston get his team in gear for tonight's game? It seems as if, although it's very early in the season, chemistry still needs to be found for the Senators.

Final - Leafs 4 Seantors 3 F/OT

Washington at Philadelphia 7:00 PM

In what many feel is tonight's "Game of the Night" (can you really disagree), the Flyers will finally play a game in front of the home crowd this evening at the WAC (Wachovia Center). In what seems to be the early test of the season for the Flyers (2-0) to determine if they are going to be considered a powerhouse in the Eastern Conference, they must be able to defend against one of the best lines in the entire league when the Capitals (2-0) come to town.

Final - Flyers 3 Capitals 2 F/SO

Tampa Bay at Carolina 7:00 PM

A SouthEast division rivalry kicks off this evening. Is it the battle of the bad teams of this division? One team will finally get a notch in the Win column, and that is the ONLY guarantee for this evening's contest.

Final - Canes 4 Lightning 3

Montreal at Calgary 9:00 PM

Jaroslav Halak will see his first start of the season as the Habs are in the Western part of Canada for the next few days and it starts off tonight in Calgary. A bit of some line juggling by coach Martin in hopes that his secondary scoring will start to pick it up a notch. Yanick Weber has been re-called and will be paired (to start the evening) with Josh Gorges on the 3rd unit. Calgary has looked great in their start to the season, and don't expect that to change tonight. It will, for sure, be a hard fought contest.

Final - Flames 4 Habs 2

Anaheim at Minnesota 9:00 PM

Brothers to do battle this evening in Minnesota as Saku Koivu (Ducks) will face off against his brother Mikko (Wild). The Ducks are coming off a loss thanks to San Jose and the Wild are also coming off a loss to the Blue Jackets. Nicklas Backstrom had a stellar game and Jonas Hiller did not look to hot in their first games of the season. Tonight, you can most likely expect both to go head to head in a game to get one of these teams in the Win column.

Final - Wild 4 Ducks 3

Dallas at Edmonton 9:30 PM

Can Khabibulin rebound from a horrible give away that cost the Oilers in their opening night contest? I think the Oilers could have a decent shot at the playoffs this season, depending on how the youngsters step up and how the top line plays with whoever is on the line with Horcoff and Hemskey. A lot of question marks for both teams though. Dallas does not look like a team that is ready to take it to the next level for some reason. A loss tonight on the road in Edmonton is the only thing I feel is a certainty.

Final - Oilers 5 Stars 3

San Jose at Los Angeles 10:30 PM

Pavelski is sidelined 2-4 weeks, and this could be a huge blow to the Sharks offense even with Thornton and Heatley and Setoguchi and Marleau. It now leaves a whole within the top six and the team does not have much depth as it is. The Kings need Jack Johnson (or "JMFJ") to really step up his game along with fellow youngster Drew Doughty. The main question is, who will be in goal for the Kings tonight? Do they attempt to not hurt Quick's demeanor? I would give him the nod if I was coach Terry Murray. Again, for the Sharks, the top 6 is going to be interested to see who fills in where. This could be a very good game tonight.

Final - Kings 4 Sharks 3 F/SO

enjoy the night!
