BREAKING: Flyers' Sestito Suspended Four Games

After Philadelphia Flyer Tom Sestito leveled New York Ranger Andre Deveaux into the boards during a preseason game this past Monday, many expected a suspension to be handed down to the young power forward.

This afternoon, sources confirmed to Adam Pardes of The Checking Line that Sestito has been suspended four games (two preseason and two regular season) for the controversial hit (video below):

Sestito was placed on waivers on Tuesday by the Flyers and was reported to have cleared per TSN's Bob McKenzie, meaning that Sestito will likely start the season with the Adirondack Phantoms.

Following his hearing with Brendan Shanahan, Sestito tweeted the following:

"Verdict is out, luckily I haven't had a previous suspension things could have been a lot worse! Time to move on and get the season going"

2 reg games sounds about right. Bummer for Sestito as the timing could not have been worse. I'm not sure he even played well enough to secure a spot seeing as how Holmgren mentioned sending him through waivers anyway, but it's unfortunate his performance evaluation may have been affected by this particular incident.

I'm sure with his size and skill, he'll get another shot at some point. Still tough timing though, I agree with you.

Was he really going to make the team? (or at least have a shot at it?) Cause if not then it could have been 40 games and it wouldn't really have mattered lol. Good on them for dropping the Shanhammer (I'm milking this one dry Tongue) anyway, but the suspension was just a formality in my opinion.
