Leafs Netminder Leaves Tonights Game With Suspected Head Injury

As soon as it started, it seems that it could have come to a grinding halt. Since the All-Star break, the Leafs have been on a tear, going 8-2-4 and bringing themselves within 4 points of playoff hockey, gaining another point tonight in a 3-2 overtime loss to the Atlanta Thrashers.

The proverbial river of optimism may just stop flowing tonight, as the fire underneath the Leafs could be about the go out.

"Reimer was shaken up early in the second period when he was hit on his helmet by the knee of Atlanta’s Evander Kane, who was called for goaltender interference."

"Reimer remained in the game for about 2 minutes before he skated to the bench and left the game."

(The Associated Press)

The loss of James Reimer could destroy the confidence of the team he has been able to pull out of the depths with some outstanding play. Although there is no way of telling the severity yet, the young netminder is undoubtedly a huge part of this recent playoff push, and to lose him could be potentially devastating.

Hopefully the injury is nothing major, and Reimer can continue to help this team climb the standings throughout the rest of the season.
