Game Preview: Red Wings @ Nashville
Earlier this season, the Wings easily defeated the Predators on home ice. Tonight, the two teams meet for their second of six scheduled regular season games, this time in Nashville.
The momentum is on both sides tonight as the Wings and Predators are both looking for a fourth consecutive win. So far this season, Nashville has faired better at home than on the road, so even with them currently being ranked fourth in the division (Wings are second), the home advantage may prove to be useful.
If Nashville plans on stopping Detroit however, it is going to require making Pavel Datsyuk a non-factor. The Wings center has 19 points (7 goals, 12 assists) in his last 12 games. 8 of those games were multi-point nights. The Predators have their own weapon in forward Colin Wilson, who has scored 2 game-winning goals in his last 3 games.
As far as injuries go, the Wings keep crashing. Patrick Eaves (right-wing) is out with a broken jaw and Jan Mursak (left-wing) is out with a fractured ankle. Also, the Wings have announced today that they will be without Chris Conner (right-wing), who is expected to miss a few weeks because of a broken hand.
Even with the injured part of the roster, the Wings are sure to be confident with what they still have, and even with Danny Cleary starting to show signs of life, this Red Wings team may have even more to show as the season rolls along.
