Blackhawks get revenge from Avalanche

 

The Blackhawks wanted payback when they stepped onto the ice against the Colorado Avalanche last night.The team that ended the record points streak now knows what's it like to be on the receiving end of a lopsided game.The Blackhawks beat the Avalanche 5-2 .The chants of "Let's go Hawks" made the Pepsi Center sound like a home game for the visitors.

Jimmy Hayes and Andrew Shaw scored first period goals for the Blackhawks. The Avalanche’s first goal came from Gabriel Landeskog when he skated right around Brent Seabrook for a shorthanded goal .Seabrook was benched by coach Joel Quenneville after he was caught out of position defensively. Seabrook, along with Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews each had an assist and a goal for the Blackhawks. Milan Hejduk also scored for the Avalanche in the 2nd period.

Marian Hossa left the game after suffering an upper body injury in the first period.

Ray Emery had 17 saves. Avalanche goaltender Semyon Varlamov had 27 saves. Colorado is now on a four game losing streak. The Blackhawks have won three in a row.

The Blackhawks won the season series 2-1-0. Both teams will see a lot more of each other due to realignment. The two teams will become division rivals next season.
