Blackhawks look to steal another victory from the Avalanche
CHI v. COL- Game Preview
The teams will switch venues as the Chicago Blackhawks head to Colorado to face the Colorado Avalanche for the second time in three days. The Blackhawks are looking to improve on their record-setting points streak. The Blackhawks beat Colorado this past Wednesday 3-2 on an overtime goal from Daniel Carcillo.
Winger Patrick Sharp was injured in Wednesday’s game. The shoulder injury he suffered appears to be more severe than team officials originally thought. To replace Sharp in the lineup, the team recalled Brandon Bollig from Rockford.
The Avalanche are led by Matt Duchene and PA Parenteau. Both are tied for the team lead in points. The Avalanche are a struggling team that plays an aggressive style of hockey. Look for a strong committment to the forecheck tonight.
Corey Crawford is the probable goaltender for the Blackhawks tonight while Semyon Varlamov will most likely be in goal for the Avalanche.
The Avalanche want some revenge after how the last game ended. They hung around with the NHL’s best team until the very end. I know this sound like a broken record but the Avalanche wants to be the team to break the Blackhawks points streak. The Blackhawks have not traditionally played well in Colorado. Expect a tougher game this time around.
Injury report: Patrick Sharp is out with an upper body injury for Chicago and Rostislav Olesz is out with a lower body injury. Marian Hossa(upper body injury) and Micheal Frolik(flu) should be back in the lineup. Also Steve Montador(concussion),who has been out since last season, was cleared to play. All are listed as questionable except Sharp and Olesz per TSN. Steve Downie is out for Colorado for the remainder of the season(right knee surgery), Ryan Wilson is out(leg),Erik Johnson(head) and Milan Hejduk is listed as doubtful(torso) per TSN.
