Blackhawks put out Flames to end losing streak

The Chicago Blackhawks ended their two game losing streak by shutting out the Calgary Flames last night 2-0. Nick Leddy and Brent Seabrook each scored for the Blackhawks.

An added storyline to last night’s game was the trade speculation surrounding Flames Right Winger Jarome Iginla. Recently, Iginla submitted a list of four teams he would not block a trade to. The Blackhawks are on that list. Even though Iginla’s numbers are down, he can add veteran leadership to any of teams he is traded to.

Blackhawks netminder Ray Emery continued his strong play against the Flames by making 16 stops. Emery's personal win streak now stands at 12 in row.

Flames goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff made 33 saves. The Blackhawks also outshot the Flames 35-16. Both teams went a combined 0 for 9 on the power play.

The Blackhawks are still without the services of Patrick Sharp and Marian Hossa.

Up next for the Blackhawks is a rematch with the Anaheim Ducks. The teams are number one and two in the Western Conference standings.
