Game Preview Blackhawks vs. Ducks
ANA @ CHI- Game Preview
The Chicago Blackhawks face the Anaheim Ducks tonight in the last game of a four game road trip. This is the first matchup this season of the best two teams in the Western Conference. The Blackhawks are coming off of a 5-2 win over the Colorado Avalanche, the team who ended the record-setting points streak. The Ducks are coming off of a 5-3 victory over the San Jose Sharks.
The Blackhawks aren’t the only team that has gone on a points streak this season. The Ducks have earned points in 11 straight games, the longest active point streak in the National Hockey League.
Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews continue to pace the team with the NHL’s best record.
The points streak isn’t the only thing these teams have in common. The Ducks have a core of difference makers as well. Ryan Getzlaf, the ageless Teemu Selanne, Bobby Ryan,Corey Perry and Francois Beauchemin lead the charge.
The Blackhawks have an up and coming player in Brandon Saad. So do the Ducks in Emerson Etem. Both of these young players have answered the bell when called upon this season.
Also, the Ducks have a solid goaltending duo as well with Viktor Fasth and Jonas Hiller. Corey Crawford and Ray Emery continue to be a revelation for the NHL’s best team.
The Ducks are the NHL’s co-leader on the power play, going 20-for-81 (24.7%) for the season. The Blackhawks check in at number 13(18.6%). Also, the Blackhawks (+34) and the Ducks (+25) are number one and two in Plus/Minus catagory.
This game might be the Blackhawks best competition to date. Expect an extremely competitive game. There’s way too much star power to disappoint.
Injury report: Patrick Sharp is out with an upper body injury for Chicago and Marian Hossa is considered doubtful with an upper-body injury. Brad Staubitz (facial laceration) and Nick Bonino (flu-like symptoms) are out for Anaheim.
