Time to call-up Sergei Kostitsyn to spark Andrei

15 games into the 2009-10 season, the Montreal Canadiens currently sit 10th in the Eastern Conference with only 14 points. While the first line of Cammalleri-Gomez-Gionta is producing offensively almost every game, Tomas Plekanec is still waiting for quality wingers to pass the puck to.

Currently playing with grinders Maxim Lapierre and Guillaume Latendresse, TurtlePlek has already 14 points (4 goals and 10 assists) in 15 games. He has been the Habs' most consistent forward despite playing with almost every forward on the team, save for Gomez.

Slated to play with Plekanec at the beginning of the season were the Kostitsyn brothers, who since then have been assigned to the Hamilton Bulldogs (Sergei) and slumping their way to the 4th line with inexistent offensive production (Andrei). We all know why Sergei was demoted to the AHL before the season and we have to believe he has learned his lesson after a month riding buses and sleeping in cheap motels. Meanwhile, Andrei seems to have lost his confidence and desire to play away from his younger brother, so it would make plenty of sense to at least try to re-unite them one more time to spread the Habs' offense on more than one line or to increase the brothers' value on the trade market, should the experiment doesn't work.

With Matt D'Agostini likely out for a while with concussion symptoms, George Laraque always injured and Gregory Stewart taking dumb penalties in the 3rd period, there's room to call-up disgruntled Belarussian Sergei Kostitsyn before tomorrow's game in Boston. Brian Gionta is also a game-time decision, so the Canadiens will need another body just in case...

The lines would be more balanced:

Cammy-Gomez-Gionta
A. Kost-Plec- S.Kost
Patches-Metro-Moen
Chip-Lapierre-Tender

Do you believe the Canadiens should re-call Sergei now?
