UPDATE 1:30PM: Giguere for Toskala and Blake now confirmed on TSN. No picks involved.

From TSN:Two teams in dire need of a shakeup have done just that, as the Calgary Flames have shipped defenceman Dion Phaneuf, forward Fredrik Sjostrom, and defenceman Keith Aulie to the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for forwards Matt Stajan, Niklas Hagman, Jamal Mayers and defenceman Ian White.

Sources say there could be more deals on the way, stay tuned to TCL for all the details. Could this all be a precursor to Kovalchuk becoming a flame?

From earlier:

According to Darren Dreger of TSN, Brian Burke and the Toronto Maple Leafs are on the verge of making a major trade before the day is up. This comes less than 12 hours after the Leafs were embarrassed in a 5-3 loss to the Vancouver Canucks, a game in which the Leafs held a 3-0 lead going into the second period.

Dreger's source implied that the changes will begin today. The Leafs have a press conference scheduled for 11:30, where it is said at least one of the deals will be announced. The rumor flying around is that the trade will be the acquisition of Anaheim goaltender J-S Giguere. Giguere is the odd-man out in Anaheim with a $7 million salary next season, and Jonas Hiller the recipient of a 4 year contract extension yesterday.

Also, Jason Hendricks at is speculating that Niklas Hagman or Matt Stajan could be involved in one of the deals, in order to make room for Giguere's cap hit.

We will have more on this situation later in the day as details develop. Our 3 leafs bloggers will certainly have more to say if the deals go through, so stay logged into TCL all day and leave us your thoughts and comments on the potential deals!
