Alexander Ovechkin suspended two games

All I can say is, finally... not the amount I would have liked, as the league established a benchmark themselves when they suspended Georges Laraque for the exact same hit last weel at 5 games, but considering how many times we've debated whether he deserves a suspension or not, it's acceptable.

I don't think you'll get any argument on this one though, he deserved what was coming to him. Only bad part is he would have probably missed the games he was suspended anyway with an injury.

Washington Capitals' forward Alexander Ovechkin has been suspended two games after his knee-on-knee hit with Carolina Hurricanes defenceman Tim Gleason.

Ovechkin was assessed a five-minute major and a game misconduct on the play that left both players with injuries.

It was Ovechkin's second game misconduct in the last three games.
