GAME RE-CAP Penguins 4-Isles 2 at The Coliseum

Another home game, another loss. What is going on with the Islanders at home? I actually get excited now for road games, knowing there is a better possibility of a win.

Last season, we always played a horrible first period, now we get the lead and have a horrible third period. Why can't this team play a full 60 minutes?

After the loss to Montreal on Thursday, Cappy said they need to play with desperation, urgency if you will, and I agreed with that. The team seems to be spoiled, lacking motivation, yet Capuano says they have been hard on the players. (Photo Credit:Robert Kowal/flickr)

Then tonight he seems to think that the teams effort was spot on, and it was, however not for the whole game. No wonder these guys get confused. Tonight, Cappy seems to think that the team does not deserve the state that they are in. Some believe officiating is a problem, and I believe that is true to an extent.

That being said, the Islanders have lost another home game after leading twice. This is simply unacceptable. There is not enough desire within the heart of this team right now, and we can only hope that changes.

I had plenty of hope in the first. A couple of minutes in Matt Martin has a go with Craig Adams, and the team looked pumped up. The period was a very physical one from start to finish.

The Isles were having plenty of chances, and were taking the play to the Pens. At 7:46 It payed off with a goal from Mark Streit From Nielsen and Carkner. 1-0 Isles, and Matt Carkner's first point as an Islander.

The Isles continued to generate chances, and by the end of the first, out shot the Penguins 14-3.

During the second the game was more open, and Pens were getting some early chances, hitting the post a couple of times. At 8:11, Pens tie it up on a goal by Joe Vitale, which beats Nabby's glove to the top right.

With a few minutes left in the second Josh Bailey scores, from JT and Hamonic. Beautiful play by Okposo to keep the play going on that one. Then with only seconds left in the period Chris Kunitz ties it for the Pens from Crosby and Dupuis.

All tied up at two, and shots on goal 28-17. Now onto the third period. The Pens come out strong and Brandon Sutter scores at the 1:46 mark. 3-2 Penguins, and again that gut feeling that you know where this is headed. Pens finish with an empty netter. Their first attempt there was a sliding save by Andrew MacDonald, and they did not miss the next one. 4-2 Final score. Islanders frustrated once again.
