Game Day : Blue Jackets @ Habs

The Columbus Blue Jackets are in town tonight as they look to put a dent in the first of 2 back to back home games for the Montreal Canadiens.  Tonight also marks the return of blueliner James Wisniewski who spent some time on the Habs roster last season.  Both the Jackets and the Habs are off to terrible starts this season, sitting 21st ( MTL ) and 30th (CBJ) in the league.

After going 1-1-1 on their road trip in California, the Habs need to bounce back and take advantage of this home stand.  5 of their next 6 are at home and with Max Pacioretty back in the lineup, there aren't many reasons why this team can't steal at least 8 points.

Vinny Prospal is probably the only Blue Jackets player that could be called "hot" at this point, with 20 points in his first 26 games.  He has kept pace so far this season, collecting 10 points in October and another 9 in November.

Carey Price continues to be the Habs' MVP this season, going all of November with a .929 Sv% including 2 shutouts that came back to back.  Erik Cole also had a productive November having scored 10 points after only tallying 6 in all of October.  Cole is also leading the team in hits and shots on goal.  Andrei Kostitsyn has also earned himself a mention, collecting 5 points in his last 6 games.

As if injuries could not get any worse for the Habs, "all star" Andrei Markov will be sidelined another 4-6 weeks after undergoing knee surgery this past week.  At this rate, don't expect to see Markov suited up for the Habs until at least February/March. Habs are also without Scott Gomez and Jaroslav Spacek.

Curtis Sanford should be getting the call in goal tonight for the Blue Jackets.  This would be Sanford's, a goalie who has gone through the Canadiens organization, 2nd time ever facing the Habs.

Carey Price should be getting the call for the Habs.

Game Starts at 7:30pm and is being aired on RDS.

Bon Match!

Gomez is injured? Cool story. Spacek too? While the Habs could use him, hadn't noticed. The issues with this team are much bigger than injuries. Tonight should be an easy game, but who are we kidding? It won't.
