Games Day : Habs @ Blackhawks

The "Pride Of Quebec" is in Chicago tonight, to face off against the ultra hot Blackhawks.

Coming into this game, the Habs are winless since the firing of francophone coach, Jacques Martin, and replacing him with unilingual anglophone coach, Randy Cunneyworth.  As ridiculous as these discriptions may sound, this is the reality for Habs fans these days.  It is no longer about hockey, it's simply about politcs this year.

While the Habs have their issues on and off the ice and in the media and within their home province, the Hawks are facing little to no problems in the first trimester of their season.  Standing atop their division, the Blackhawks are off to a much better start than last year.  After going 7-2-1 in their last 10 games, expect them to have the upper hand in tonight's game.

Superstar Jonathan Toews is the player to watch tonight, for the Blackhawks.  Despite sharing the ice with the likes of Marian Hossa, Patrick Kane, and Patrick Sharp, Toews still manages to shine brighter than all.  Toews has 36 points in 34 games, including 10 points on the power play and 4 game winning goals, the kid is the definition of clutch.  Toew currently has 11 points in 9 games throughout Decemeber.

Erik Cole has kept his pace with the Habs since waking up from a slow start this season.  Cole continues to find succes on the Habs second line, paired with winger Max Pacioretty and center David Desharnais, the line has combined for 69 points already this season.

It has been announced the Peter Budaj will get the start in nets tonight for the Habs and you can expect to see Corey Crawford between the pipes for Chicago.  Even win 15 wins, Crawford seems to be struggling a bit out there.  He's sitting on a 3.00 Goals against average and a .896 Sv%.

As far as predictions go for tonight's game, it's pretty hard to say.  While the Habs have stacked up unusually well agianst the West so far this season, I just can't see them fairing well against the Blackhawks.  I'll go with a 4-1 loss for the Habs tonight.

Game time is at 7:30 and is being aired on RDS.

Bon Match!

I'm so fed up with this bullshit. Habs vs. Hawks, should be a marquee matchup. Can't even bother getting excited.

At least I still have the Bruins and the rebuild in anticipation of a rebuild in Carolina is keeping me pretty interested. the lack of identity or direction in the habs organization is making me feel like ive been supporting a joke. i hope they lose some fan base from all this bullshit.
