Flyers draft five on the second day of the 2014 NHL Draft

The Flyers wrapped up their day at the 2014 NHL Draft by selecting five players.

The Flyers followed up picking defenseman Travis Sanheim in the first round by picking three forwards and two defensemen. Two of their first three picks were spent on the blue line.

In the second round, the Flyers took right winger Nicolas Aube-Kubel with the 48th overall pick.

Aube-Kubel, 18, scored 53 points (22 goals, 31 assists) in 65 games last season with Val d'Or of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL), helping his team to a QMJHL championship with 23 points (4 goals, 19 assists) in 23 playoff games. 

In the third round, Philadelphia took defenseman Mark Friedman with the 86th overall pick.

Friedman, 18, registered 10 goals and 40 assists in 51 games with Waterloo of the United States Hockey League (USHL). Waterloo made it to the USHL finals as well. He was fourth among all USHL defensemen in scoring. He will attend Bowling Green University for the 2014-15 season.

In the fifth round, the Flyers Swedish left winger Oskar Lindblom with the 138th overall pick.

Lindblom, 17, was ranked 23rd among European skaters by NHL Central Scouting. He had 33 points (13 goals, 20 assists) in 43 games for the Brynas second division team in 2013-14. He scored six goals and an assist in seven playoff games. He also appeared for Brynas' top team in four games in the Swedish Hockey League.

In the sixth round, the Flyers took Calgary Hitmen center Radel Fazleev of the WHL with the 168th overall pick.

Fazleev, 18, was teammates with Sanheim with Calgary. The Russian scored five goals and 20 assists in 38 games as a rookie with Calgary. He also added seven points in six games. He was on Russian's Under-18 team in the World Junior Championships the past year.

In the seventh round, the Flyers took Swedish defenseman Jesper Pettersson with the 198th overall pick.

Pettersson, 19, played the last two seasons in the SHL with Linkoping. He played in 62 total games. He was on Sweden's 2014 World Junior Championship silver medal team.
