Sources: Flyers to Sign Kimmo Timonen to a One-Year Extension

The Flyers are close to extending one of their veteran blue-liners.

According to sources, Kimmo Timonen will be signed to a one-year, $6 million deal for the 2013-14 season. Timonen, who will be 38 next month, was expected to be an unrestricted free agent in July.

Timonen has a cap hit of $6.3 million this year.

The Flyers have already committed $62.1 million towards 19 players next season. This leads to the possibility the Flyers could use up one or both of their buyouts during the off season to clear up cap space.
