Game 19 : Habs vs Preds
My boyfriend's brother, Steve, was walking into Les Ailes De la Mode in downtown Montreal yesterday. He politely held a door open for a man walking behind him. As the man approached, Steve noticed it was Barry Trotz. Barry kindly thanked Steve and then a few feet ahead Barry held a door open for him and said "thanks, sir. Let me return the favour. Steve responded with, "it was the least I could do since you're going to lose tomorrow." Barry came back with, "we don't win anywhere, so what difference does it make." No BS. True story. Barry is the man!
The Habs are HOT! HOT! HOT! Coming into this game with a record of 12-5-1. On the other hand, the Preds are batting around .500 with a 7-6-3 record. This is what makes me a little nervous. We're streaking right now and confidence is high. Plekanec is producing, Price is red hot and our lines have all created a chemistry that seems to be working very well. But the thing that makes me nervous is we are playing a team that we should be able to walk over and that is where things get messy sometimes. Over confidence usually hurts the Habs. Also, the Preds being a western conference team does make this game "less important". I think that's crazy, but it's the mentality a lot of people do have when playing cross conference games. If there is a loss coming, it's tonight. I feel it's going to be similar to the Blue Jackets game. However, I hope I'm completely wrong.
Tonight marks the first time Sergei Kostitsyn returns to the Bell Center. You can expect the boo-birds to be all over this guy. It'll be interesting to see if they match his line against his brother's (AK46). Sergei hasn't found much success in Nashville, he's got 3 points in 12 games, and was dropped to the 4th line.
The Habs are playing without Markov in the lineup?!?!? No surprise here guys. The superstar blueliner from Russia is out again with a knee injury and will most likely only return at the end of the season. Chances are he'll make an triumphant return, play 2-3 games and injure himself once again. What I have trouble understanding is, if he wasn't 100% upon return, please explain to me why he was on the ice while we were annihilating the Carolina Hurricanes? ( sorry Jay ) Riddle me this?
Pekka Rinne and Carey Price should both be starting between the pipes tonight. This will mark Price's 18th start of the season. It may still be early but can we start making signs reading "Jaroslav Wholak?"
Game starts at 7:30pm and is being aired on RDS and TSN-HABSHD.
