Tampa Bay Underdogs

They might as well change their name to the Underdogs. As impressive as their playoff run has been so far, the Tampa Bay Lightning are still considered underdogs by most people, who seem to think that the Boston Bruins will take the series. I'm here to prove them all wrong.

Now that Detroit is finished, it's time to write more about my boy Stevie's team. I'll be wearing my Lightning hat and Stamkos jersey t-shirt when they hit the ice for the Eastern Conference Finals tonight and be cheering for Tampa Bay.

This team has what it takes to go all the way, and I believe they can beat the other three teams remaining if they want to. Here's my breakdown of how Tampa can beat Boston and potentially Vancouver or San Jose:

The Bruins really didn't impress me at all against the Canadiens. The Habs were banged up and still pushed the Bruins to overtime in Game 7. While Tim Thomas is a stellar goalie, Dwayne Roloson is just as good. If anything, Roloson has more experience as he brought the Edmonton Oilers to the Finals in 2006.

Vancouver is the clearly favourite when I look at everyone's predictions, but they still have flaws. Yes, they are a good team and have depth, but I think Tampa has more players that have some sandpaper and heart like Sean Bergenheim, Dominic Moore, Teddy Purcell and Steve Downie. Luongo is human as well, I feel comfortable with Roli and Lou going head to head.

The Red Wings couldn't solve Niemi easily, but Tampa is way quicker and their shot selection is better. Having guys crashing the net will result in goals for sure, Niemi is good at primary shots, but gives off big rebounds. I am not sold on San Jose even through the Detroit series, so Tampa can beat them as well.

If all goes well, my hero Steve Yzerman will guide his first year team to the ultimate prize, starting with a win in Beantown tonight.

I'm totally on Team Lightning now. Lots of people are predicting the Bruins, and I think it's anyone's series but people aren't giving nearly enough credit to the Bolts. They beat an injured but motivated team in Pittsburgh, and dismantled the best team in the east the next round. The Bruins? Looked average against the Habs, and took advantage of a team with no goaltending in round two. People aren't giving the Bolts enough credit and they're going to take advantage of that again.

thats why I think they'll beat Boston. Montreal was injured, Philly's goalies suck. Boston was average.
