Blackhawks v Flames- Game Preview

CHI v CGY - Game Preview

7:30pm CST

3/26/13

Chicago (24-4-3) is up for back-to-back play tonight at the United Center, hosting the Calgary Flames (12-14-4) after a tough defeat to the LA Kings.

The Chicago Blackhawks’ regulation losses have come in pairs this season, and Monday night’s 5-4 fall to the Kings proved that a long rest after their 4-2 defeat in Anaheim last week was not going to help the Hawks pull out a win.

Calgary is also in a bit of a slump, they need a win tonight in order to avoid setting a franchise record road skid.  The Flames have not won a game away from home since their 4-3 victory over Dallas mid February.  Calgary is 3-9-2 on the road this season.

The last time the Blackhawks and Flames met, it almost ended the Hawks’ historic streak at eight, but the juggernaut Chicago team pulled out a 3-2 shootout victory with Ray Emery in the net.

Injuries:

The Blackhawks are still adjusting their lines and play without key players Patrick Sharp and Marian Hossa.  Sharp is recovering from a shoulder injury that should keep him out at least another week or so, and Hossa is expected to miss his third straight game tonight with an upper body injury.

Who’s Hot:

Patrick Kane is on a 6 game point streak, nothing his 17th goal of the season for the Hawks last night.  Kane is currently 5th in the league with 39 points.

Flames’ left wing Curtis Glencross leads his team in goals and is 4-2-6 in his last five games.

Who’s Lukewarm:

Flames goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff might be one of the lesser goalies in the league right now, but he had a rare 60 minutes of genius between the pipes during Sunday nights victory over STL.  Kiprusoff allowed 2 goals, but ended the night with a .947 Sv% on 38 SA.
