Blackhawks power past Devils 5-3
The Blackhawks concluded their short east coast stint in convincing fashion. In the first two periods Antti Raanta kept the Hawks in the game until they found their legs in the third period. The first period was scoreless but Raanta and New Jersey icon Marty Broduer were rock solid.
The second period saw the teams exchange goals. The Hawks came from mister on fire Patrick Sharp and the Devils got their tally from Andy Greene. After forty minutes the teams were tied at one apiece in a very tightly contested game.
If the first two period were the Antti Raanta show the third period was the Patrick Sharp show. Patrick Sharp got a hat trick and his second goal is something you have to see to believe. From a near impossible angle on the near side Sharp parallel with the Devils goal somehow got the puck over Broduer and in the net.
Brandon Saad & Marian Hossa were the other goal scorers for the Hawks. The other Devils goals were both scored by Marek Zidlicky but they never regained control of the game in the third period.
If team Canada was having any problems deciding who should fill their roster spot Patrick Sharp should have settled it. He now leads the team in goals and has been on fire. The game also saw three assists go the Duncan Keith and two assists to Jonathan Toews and Brent Seabrook. Patrick Kane also kept his point streak alive with an assist on the Saad goal.
The Hawks come back from the east with three out of a possible four points and now must get ready to face the San Jose Sharks and hopefully keep rolling.
Three Stars of the game:
1. P. Sharp
2. M. Zidlicky
3. M. Hossa
