Chicago Blackhawks - Home sick or sick at home

Home is where the heart is or at least the Blackhawks were hoping home is where another win is. Tonight the Hawks took on another Pacific division rival in the Phoenix Coyotes. They were hoping to continue their recent circus road trip successes against the Anaheim Ducks and the LA Kings.

The Blackhawks needed to keep the winning habit going especially against all of their Western Conference foes. Points are becoming critical. They are currently only 2 points ahead of Detroit which the Red Wings having two games in hand on the Blackhawks. In fact they are only 4 points ahead of these Coyotes in the Western conference again with the Yotes having 2 games in hand on the Blackhawks.

Now I’ve heard there is a tendency when teams are on the road as long as the Hawks were, that there can be a let up. That is exactly what happened to the Hawk. They came out strong but seemed to have another one of those games like they did in Canada where nothing went right. They looked flat.

The gang was all back with Seabrook, Bolland and Carcillo back in the line up. Ben Smith, Sami Lepisto & John Scott were all sitting this one out. Phoenix is a solid defensive team with a good Goalie Mike Smith. This game was like dominoes falling once Phoenix got one goal it seemed like it was all downhill from there as they fell    4-1 to the Coyotes with a late goal by Patrick Sharp.

The Hawks play again on Friday against the New York Islanders. Lets hope they can bounce back in that one. Although the Hawks were in the comforting confines of the UC in sweet home Chicago the long bumpy road ride continued at home.

Great read, Maggie and welcome aboard! That loss just leaves a bad taste in your mouth. I just posted a quick analysis about the Phoenix goals/Chicago's defensive breakdown from last night. I included a link to your recap there as well.
