Hawks best the Predators 3-1

The Hawks have been trailing in the Central Division all year and chasing some other teams. Coming into the Bridgestone Arena, the Hawks had the opportunity to not only catch the division leading team but to surpass them and take over for the first time this season as the Central Division leader and seize the opportunity they did.

The Hawks had Scott Darling in between the pipes since being recalled from Rockford and he has not cooled off at all. He was really challenged in both the first and third periods. He stopped 32 of 33 shots on goal with a .970 save percentage and looked very strong.

The game also saw Klas Dahlbeck make his NHL debut on the blue line for the Hawks and he looked rock solid. Welcome to the big show, may this be the first of many successful NHL games.

If Scott Darling was hot in the nets Brandon Saad put the power in the power winger position. He ended up the night with a goal and assist. The entire line of Toews, Hossa and Saad had jump all night long but it was Brandon Saad that got the scoring started in the first period when he beat Pekke Rinne on the glove side after blazing up the near boards to put the Hawks up 1-0.

The first period was pretty chippy and other teams should learn by now that getting physical with the Blackhawks isn’t going to deter them let alone stop them. In fact some Hawks like the physical play. Andrew Shaw ran James Neal into the Hawks bench and another Predator found out the hard way that Patrick Kane maybe small but he is mighty.

The second period saw almost a repeat with Brandon Saad powering up the ice but this time he dished the puck to a wide open Marian Hossa who just had to tap the puck past Rinne for a 2-0 Hawks advantage which is how the period ended.

The Third saw the lone Predators goal from a bad angle shot by Colin Wilson to make it 2-1 Hawks early in the period and it looked like the Predators got life but the Hawks and Scott Darling put the clamps on and Marian Hossa got an empty net goal to seal the division lead for the team.

The circus trip seems to have finally solidified the team this year, right now the Hawks are rolling and for the fans whether at the United Center or any other arena, let the good times keep rolling. The Hawks conquered the west on the circus trip now it’s time to conquer the east – next up New Jersey.
