Hawks to face Canadiens

In an Orginal Six showdown the last of the regular season for these two teams, they are coming in off of vastly different paths.

The Blackhawks have heated up since the circus trip and the sizzle continued at the United Center when they defeated their dreaded division rival St. Louis Blues. The Hawks are coming in off a four game winning streak over some serious heavy weights in the Western Conference namely the Avs, Ducks, Kings and Blues.

The offense has finally sparked primarily due to the second line of Kane, Richards and Versteeg. The line has found is rhythm and will look to keep their frentic pace going. This line since being put together right before the circus trip has a phenomenal 37 points between them in 8 games.

With an off ice injury to Corey Crawford, Antti Raanta will get the start. He is coming in off of a great win over the Blues wherein he stopped 40 of 41 sog. Also Klas Dahlbeck has been called up from Rockford and Adam Clendening was sent back to the Rockford IceHogs.

The Canadiens are coming in off of a tight 2-1 loss to the Minnesota Wild and have been on a somewhat downward cycle after getting off  to a very fast start. Montreal now sits 4th in the Eastern Conference with a record of 17-8-2.

Who to look out for the Canadiens are the usual suspects, Max Pacioretty, Tomas Plekanec, PK Subban & Alex Galchenyak are the points leaders for this team. Carey Price will no doubt man the nets for Montreal and is always a challenge to beat.

This game also probably will not see the return of Patrick Sharp to the Hawks lineup but could return soon.

Special teams is very similar stats wise for both of these clubs it is the 5 on 5 where the Hawks should have an advantage both in Goals for and against. Look for a fast paced skill game that could turn into a goalie duel with the Norris trophy defenseman on either side in Subban and Keith.
