Titans Drive Nailers out of the Playoff Hunt

The Trenton Titans put the final nail in the coffin of Wheeling’s playoff plans with a 5-2 win Friday night in Trenton. Since the Titans were mathematically eliminated from the playoffs on Wednesday night with a loss in Elmira, they’ve embraced the role of spoiler.

When asked what the team would be playing for, Coach Vince Williams repeated one word.

“Pride” he said.

Shane Harper netted his first professional hat trick scoring two goals early in the game as well as an empty netter near the end.

Scott Wedgewood had a strong game, stopping 30 of 32 shots in his first action in Trenton since returning from a quick stint up in the AHL.

Matt Germain and Chris Barton scored for Wheeling.

Jacob Cepis finished the game with three points, giving him 61 points on the season, his creative offense has been a bright spot for Trenton in an otherwise disappointing season for the Titans.
