Columbus Blue Jackets Trade Rick Nash to New York Rangers

According to TSN's Bob McKenzie, the trade between the New York Rangers and Columbus Blue Jackets for Rick Nash has now been approved by the NHL making the trade official.

The final deal will see the Blue Jackets sending Nash, minor-league defenseman Steve Delisle and a conditional third-round draft pick (which goes back to Columbus if the Rangers reach the Stanley Cup Final) in exchange for forwards Artem Anisimov, Brandon Dubinsky, 21 year-old defenseman Tim Erixon and a first-round selection in the 2013 NHL Draft.

After months of speculation, the saga has finally ended with Nash joining Brad Richards, Marian Gaborik and Henrik Lundqvist on the Rangers.

As is expected, Blue Jackets general manager Scott Howson is receiving a considerable amount of scrutiny for the return. After demanding for a king's ransom, the pieces returning more closely resemble a grab-bag of trinkets than treasure.

According to capgeek.com, the Rangers now have a little over $13 million in cap space after acquiring Nash.
