Chicago seeks revenge against struggling Colorado

8:00pm CST

The league-leading Chicago Blackhawks (23-2-3) continue their four game road trip in Colorado tonight where they will be seeking revenge against the Avalanche team (10-13-4) that ended their historic consecutive games with a point streak just ten days earlier.

The Blackhawks surrendered their first regulation loss of the season at Colorado’s Pepsi Center on March 8th and fell to the visiting Edmonton Oilers just two days later for their second regulation loss. However, the scheduling gods saw fit to give Chicago three days of rest following that Edmonton tilt and the league’s best team did not put them to waste.

An apparently revitalized Chicago squad took to the road to dispatch the recently frisky Columbus Blue Jackets 2-1 in the shootout and absolutely dismantled the rudderless Dallas Stars in an 8-1 shellacking that saw eleven different Blackhawks skaters hit the score sheet.

While Chicago has been trending positively once again, Colorado has been floundering. Losers of three straight and sitting in dead last in the West, the Avalanche will look to their triumvirate of talented centermen (Paul Stastny, Ryan O’Reilly, and team captain Gabriel Landeskog) to right their rapidly sinking ship.

However, in order to do so, Colorado will need to solve Blackhawks goaltender Ray Emery, whose 10-0-0 record will be relieving Corey Crawford of his duties for the evening. This could actually be of benefit to the struggling Avalanche, as Emery’s previous four appearances have resulted in rather sub-par peripherals: 3.54 GAA and 0.862 SV%.
