Day 14 Recap of IIHF World Hockey Championships

Semifinal Friday on Friday the 13th at the World Championships. Here’s the recap.

Czech Republic vs. Sweden

Just 46 seconds into the second period, Patrik Elias scores to get the Czech Republic on the board first. Almost 4 minutes later, Patrik Berglund would tie the game for Sweden on the powerplay. With under 5 minutes to go in the period, Mikael Backlund would make it 2-1 Sweden. Loui Eriksson would miss on a penalty shot late. Just over 8 minutes into the third, Jimmie Ericsson would make it 3-1 Sweden, And over 4 minutes later, Marcus Kruger would make it 4-1. Under 2 minutes later, Elias would make it 4-2. Berglund would add an empty netter late to give Sweden a 5-2 win and advance to the Gold Medal Game, bouncing the Czechs to the Bronze Medal Game.

Finland vs. Russia

5:13 into the second period, a lacrosse-style goal scored by Mikael Granlund would give Finland the 1-0 lead. Almost 8 minutes into the third, Jani Lajunen would make it 2-0. Roughly 90 seconds later, Jarkko Immonen makes it 3-0. That would be your final score.
