Chelios Signs With AHL Wolves

Although he's nearing the half century mark, Chris Chelios, still has the passion to compete and has signed a contract with the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League. The Wolves are the AHL affiliate for the Atlanta Thrashers. He will make his debut on Friday against the Manitoba Moose. From there NHL teams can evaluate what he has left and whether or not he deserves a contract in the NHL.

Chris Chelios, 47, has spent the last 10 seasons of his NHL career with the Detroit Red Wings where he captured two Stanley Cups. Chelios expressed his desire to continue playing this offseason but the Red Wings announced that they would not sign the 25 year veteran. Chelios has been expected to sign with the Wolves for some time and has officially done so today.

Chris Chelios will make his debut with the Chicago Wolves on Friday night after signing with the American Hockey League club on Tuesday.

The 47-year-old defenceman had been skating with the Wolves, AHL affiliate of the Atlanta Thrashers.

Chelios has 25 NHL seasons under his belt and is looking to add to his total.

Teams can begin assessing what he has left Friday when the Wolves host the Manitoba Moose.
