Chicago Blackhawks select Teuvo Teravainen with the 18th overall pick in the 2012 NHL Draft

With the 18th overall pick, the Blackhawks selected Teuvo Teravainen.

Teravainen, 17, earned a promotion to the SM-liiga with Jokerit in the 2011-12 season and produced a respectable 11 goals and 18 points in 40 games against older competition. The promotion came on the heels of a dominating performance in the junior league, in which he produced 12 goals and 20 points in 11 games with Jokerit.

The 5-11, 165-pound offensive left winger doesn’t play a physical game due to his size, but he’s said to possess patience to his game which allows him to anticipate play and remain a consistent offensive threat.

The Helsinki-native is a left-handed shooter and is capable of both playmaking and goal-scoring.
