Avs Finally End Skid
Avs Roll over Hawks to End Skid
Well it finaly happened: One of these bad teams won! Both the Hawks and the Avs were both on decently long skids heading into this matchup at Pepsi Center. Well the Avs took it to the Hawks, finally getting the puck to go in the net more than two times. On top of it all, David Jones has three goals in two games after tonight. This is good news especially if Jones is going to be trade bait this deadline.
Probably the biggest reason the Avs won this game: They got that two goal lead in the third. Jones' goal mid way through the third gave the Avs the two goal lead they have desperatly been needing. Instead of running around for the finaly minute while the other team tries to get a lucky bounce to tie it, the Avs were able to seal the deal and then subsequently getting the empty netter on top of it.
With the win the Avs are now one point back of Minnesota for the 8th and final playoff spot. Bad news for the Avs though is that they are off until Friday and may yet fall further in the standings.
Avs Player of the Game
Landeskog is my rookie of the year, and although his point total may not reflect what most think of when choosing a rookie of the year, but he is. All it takes is to watch the way Landeskog plays night in and night out. He is literally everywhere on the ice. He leads the team in hits and shots and has made some pretty big goals for the team. Just like tonight when he scored 38 seconds into the third giving the Avs the lead and the win.
