EJ plays hero and Avs snap skid!
Well it's over, the record 10 game losing streak snapped against the St. Louis Blues and some familiar faces. Speaking of familiar faces, I called it in my update blog, and sure enough Stewart had two goals and Shatty had an assist. But it wasn't enough as Johnson scored the go ahead goal against his ex-team to lead the Avs to victory. Johnson had a decent game for the Avs finishing with plus minus of 0 and the one goal while logging 25 minutes on the ice. On the opposite side Stewart ended the game with 2 goals and a plus minus of 0, but 2 very costly penalty minutes as the Avs got a 2-0 lead from it.
The Blues didn't give up down 2-0 and were able to tie it up 2-2 going into the third. Then with 5 minutes left in the game, Johnson sent a wrister towards the goal that found the net and gave the Avs the needed lead. The final score ended 4-3 after Stewart and Stastny goals.
Overall I am liking Johnson more and more and I have a feeling he will become quite the defensemen in the near future.
Word from the game last night was that Elliott would join the team today with a chance of playing tonight at home against Edmonton. However my bet is he will dress and be the backup and instead start next game for the Avs.
Matt Duchene returns
Duchene returned after missing two games and looked absolutely amazing on the ice. You could tell he was anxious to be back and he easily could have had two goals in the first period. Matt had a wide open net he missed on the back hand, but still skated hard and was all over the Blues.
