The tale of two Peter's

This is the blog of two Peter's... Avs fans got both good and bad news on the Peter's out of Avalanche practice today.

The not so good news has to do with Forsberg and his dreaded foot injury. Forsberg had to stop skating and leave the ice numerous times and was seen not only talking to the training but constantly messing with the skate from the bad foot. No one is jumping to conclusions, but that isn't a good sign for him and his foot. Still waiting for Adrian Dater's post practice blog as he was the one that has been reporting on the possible foot problems at practice today. Unless everyone is reading into what happened wrong, this could spell the near conclusion to the Foppa situation with a retirement and not a comeback.

But, the Avs and fans got some amazing news today about a different Peter! Peter Mueller skated ont he ice before practice, marking the first time he has skated since September. I know a thing or two about concussion and it is always a very good sign when a player can get back to some physical activity. Baring a setback in his workouts we just may see Mueller play this season! Also, David Jones skated with Foppa before practice and even stickhandeled and shot after suffereing a shoulder injury before the All-Star break. This was huge because many thought Jones' season was done for sure. My bet is we see the return of Jones and O'Reilly within the next week.

Overall, the Peter Forsberg news is sadening especially as a fan of Peter's. You always hold out hope that a guy like him could fix the issue and continue to play. You always say you hate players being forced out from injury, but Forsberg's case hurts worse. A guy who at the top of his game was considered on of the best players to ever play, yet his career was stopped short over a persistent foot injury. I'll still hold out for hope that he plays, but from the sounds of it this could begin to head South now.

I don't think they will bring him back early, but this is a good sign that maybe the playoffs will be a good return date if the team makes it. We will have to see...

I told you about Forsberg Tongue. But I do want to see him in an NHL game again I hope he figures things out. At the same time if he's going to cause grief for the team with his injury troubles I would honestly just pass.

Looks like deadline day is Sunday, Monday the Avs go on a long road trip and no one expects Forsberg to stay for another long period skating alone. Especially after the set backs after skating on his own for four days. I just want this to be over and know if he is playing or retireing.

Agreed Russ. The longer they drag this along, the worse it becomes for both sides.

Well toda was a good day for him in the morning skate I guess. Even scored some amazing goals on the goaltenders. DenverPost reporting that Sunday is the quiet deadline and the coach even stated it's in Forsberg's court now and that they will sign him if he chooses to play.
