Last Minute Caps-Sens Lineup Notes
By Scott Lowe
The Washington Capitals will get physical presence Shaone Morrisonn back on the blueline tonight when they take on Ottawa at 7 p.m. at Verizon Center, but they will still be without the services of forwards Brendan Morrison (lower body), Boyd Gordon (back), Brooks Laich (face) and Scott Walker (knee).
Defensemen John Erskine and Tyler Sloan will be healthy scratches for the Caps, which means that recent Hershey call-up Matthieu Perreault, who had a goal Sunday vs. Calgary should be back in the mix again.
Ottawa leads the season series 2-1 and has scored six and four goals, respectively in its victories against Washington. "They've turned it around and are playing as good as they have at any time," said Caps head coach Bruce Boudreau. "They have a really good lineup. Sometimes you don't realize how good a lineup is when you only play them four times, but they've beaten us twice and have four lines that can hurt you along with a defensive group that are big and strong. They are definitely a contender."
One quick addition as I run out the door to sit in Baltimore-to-D.C. traffic in an effort to get to Verizon Center, Volchenkov is out for Ottawa. He has been a terrific shot-blocker vs. the Caps this year, so we'll see just how valuable he is.
