Brodeur Blanks the Coyotes as Devils win 3-0

New York, NY - The New Jersey Devils (9-19-2) got a huge two points at the Prudential Center in their 3-0 blanking of the Phoenix Coyotes (14-9-6) in Wednesday night hockey. Sniper Ilya Kovalchuk netted two goals, as Martin Brodeur posted his 113th career shutout to lead the Devils to the victory.

Kovalchuk began the scoring for the Devils at the 5:30 mark of the first period. The sniper was able to record a slap shot to give New Jersey the early 1-0 lead. Mark Fayne would add on to that lead by tallying his first in a New Jersey Devils uniform at the 13:18 mark in that frame, by recording a tip-in goal for the 2-0 cushion.

The sniper would strike for the second time in the game at the 4:49 mark in the third period as the winger Kovalchuk let go of a wicked slap shot for the eventual 3-0 lead.

In the cage for the Devils keeper Martin Brodeur was brilliant making 29 saves in the 113th shutout of his career. While on the other side of the ice Phoenix keeper Ilya Bryzgalov made 29 saves.

The Devils look to continue to “Rock” the NHL with their play as they host the Nashville Predators for a 7:00 p.m. face-off on Friday night.
