Brodeur Helps Devils Blank Pittsburgh, 2-0
New York, NY - The New Jersey Devils (14-29-3) were able to take advantage of a Pittsburgh Penguins (29-15-4) squad that is without their top two players. Keeper Martin Brodeur made 23 saves, while being named the first star of the game as he led his team to the 2-0 victory.
Pittsburgh who was without stars Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, could not find the offense they needed to secure the victory. Meanwhile the Devils who are vastly improving with each game that they play, were able to tally two goals in the first period.
Those two goals would be enough for Brodeur as he would go on to blank the Penguins, while leading the team to victory. Tallying the first Devils goal of the game was Brian Rolston (4) who would net a slap shot at the 1:22 mark of that frame, that was assisted by Patrik Elias and Andy Greene (14).
New Jersey would then record their second goal at the 9:51 mark as Nick Palmieri (3) would backhand a shot that would secure the victory for the Devils.
The Devils will now head to Philadelphia for a 1:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon face-off against the always tough Flyers.
