Devils Cap off Victory by Blanking Washington, 5-0

New York, NY - The New Jersey Devils (6-13-2) got an offensive explosion in their 5-0 victory over the Washington Capitals (14-6-2) in hockey action on Monday night. Jason Arnott lead the offensive momentum by recording two points, as well as Patrik Elias who netted a goal and tallied an assist.

Elias got the scoring going at the 5:49 mark of the first period as he tipped-in a power-play goal for the first Devils goal. Arnott then recorded a wrap-around opportunity at the 16:15 mark to give New Jersey the 2-0 lead. Mattias Tedenby then made it 3-0 at the 18:14 mark as he was able to net a penalty shot.

Arnott then tallied his second goal of the night by connecting on a wicked snap shot at the 2:43 mark of the second period. The goal which was assisted by Elias as both players were able to record their second point of the night. Dainius Zubrus joined the party at the 7:48 mark by connecting on a snap shot as the Devils skated away with the 5-0 victory.

In the cage keeper Johan Hedberg was perfect stopping all 30 shots that Washington was able to put on net in the evening, on the other side of the ice Braden Hotly made 18 saves.

The Devils will remain at “The Rock” to host the Calgary Flames for a 7:30 p.m. face-off on Wednesday night.
