Lights Go out in Georgia in Devils 7-1 loss to Thrashers

New York, NY - Eric Boulton recorded a hat trick to lead the Atlanta Thrashers (18-11-5) to a 7-1 victory over the New Jersey Devils (9-21-2) in Saturday night hockey action.

The thrashing began early for Atlanta as Ron Hainey tallied a wrist shot at the 10:56 mark for the 1-0 lead. Boulton would record his first goal at the 15:30 mark letting go of a wicked wrist shot to make the score 2-0. Atlanta would only add on to their lead at the 16:08 mark as Evander Kane tallied a wrist shot of his own to end the first period offense.

Andrew Ladd would help Atlanta open up the second period by making the score 4-0, on a wrist shot at the 6:37 mark. The Devils would finally strike for their first goal when Ilya Kovalchuk tallied a power play slap shot at the 15:43 mark, which made the score 4-1.

Boulton would then strike for his final two tallies of the night a the 4:07 mark and the 16:54 mark respectively, to give Atlanta the 6-1 lead. Chris Thorburn would put the icing on the 7-1 victory for Atlanta by connecting on a wrist shot at the 18:58 mark.

The Devils will have two days off before traveling to Washington to face-off with the Capitals for a Tuesday night 7:30 p.m. game.
