One is a lonely number in Devils 3-1 loss to Nashville

New York, NY - The New Jersey Devils (9-20-2) found the number one to be a lonely one in their 3-1 loss to the Nashville Predators (17-8-6) in hockey action on Friday night. Nashville winger Martin Erat netted two goals, which helped lead the Predators to the victory.

Nashville got on the board first as Steve Sullivan connected on a snap shot at the 19:43 mark of the first period for the 1-0 lead. The Predators would strike again as Erat would record power play goals in the second and third periods respectively.

The winger would record the first of his power plays on a wrist shot at the 4:56 mark of the second period to give Nashville the 2-0 lead. Erat would strike for his final power play goal of the game at the 4:55 mark in the third period, as he would tip-in the eventual game-winning goal.

New Jersey would not go away quietly though as Mattias Tedenby would tally a power play goal of his own at the 7:06 mark which would spoil the shutout bid for Nashville keeper Andres Lindback who finished the night with 15 saves. On the other side of the ice Devils keeper Martin Brodeur tallied 17 saves.

The Devils will get no rest as they immediately hit the road for a 7:00 p.m. Saturday night face-off with the always tough Atlanta Thrashers.
