Buffalo Sabres trades up, selects Zemgus Gigensons

After coupling the 21st and 42nd picks in a trade with the Calgary Flames to move up to 14, the Sabres selected Zemgus Gigensons in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. Cheryl Adams of TCL Blackhawks has some details on Girgensons.

Girgensons makes an impact on the ice. Very strong skater, fiercely competitive, hard to knock off the puck, with a good shot and a drive for the net.

He is a solid two-way player who shows a lot of determination in his play.

Girgensons wore the "C" for the Dubuque Fighting Saints this season as well as the "A" for Team Latvia at the WJC-20. He is committed to the University of Vermont for 2012-13.
