2013 NHL Entry Draft: Leafs Select C Gauthier

The Toronto Maple Leafs have selected C Frederik Gauthier 21st overall in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.

Gauthier is 6-foot-5 and weighs a whopping 215 pounds at 18 years old. He produced 22 goals and 60 points in 62 games for the Rimouski Oceanic of the QMJHL. He was ranked 18th overall on the ISS' final draft rankings.

Corey Pronman, prospects writer for ESPN and Hockey Prospectus, wrote on Twitter that Gauthier is a "very good defensive center. Took all the tough assignments and draws. Big man who skates very well for his size. He’s not a tremendous offensive player, but Gauthier can make plays with the puck. Has 2nd line potential scoring-wise."

2013 NHL Entry Draft: Flyers Select D Sam Morin

The Philadelphia Flyers have selected defenseman Sam Morin from Rimouski of the QMJHL.

Morin is a big-bodied defenseman that stands tall at 6'6," 202 pounds. He boasts a similar body and attitude to injured blue liner Chris Pronger.

Morin is ranked 32 by the International Scouting Services and has climbed the rankings the past few weeks.

2013 Mock Draft

The draft is one of the favourite times of the year, and none have been more important for the Calgary Flames than the 2013 edition. I have done a mock draft for the last five years and even though they are impossible to predict, I enjoy reading up on all the prospects and making my best guess on which teams jerseys they will put on when their name is called.
