Flyers draft five on the second day of the 2014 NHL Draft

The Flyers wrapped up their day at the 2014 NHL Draft by selecting five players.

The Flyers followed up picking defenseman Travis Sanheim in the first round by picking three forwards and two defensemen. Two of their first three picks were spent on the blue line.

The Flyers selected a defenseman with their first pick for a second straight year.

The Flyers picked 18-year-old Calgary Hitmen defensman Travis Sanheim with the 17th overall pick in the 2014 NHL Draft on Friday. Sanheim will join a group of prospects that could be the future of the Flyers blue line.

Sanheim is 6-foot-3, 189 pounds, and completed his first season with Calgary of the Western Hockey League. In 67 regular season games, Sanheim recorded five goals and 24 assists for 29 points along with 14 penalty minutes and a plus-25 rating.
