Blackhawks end their season on OT Game 7 loss

Plenty of people thought that, like last year, the Chicago Blackhawks would push past the LA Kings in the Western Conference Finals. But 2014’s battle between the two teams would be different, from beginning to end; the Kings would manage to put the Blackhawks against the wall with a 3-1 series lead, only to see the Hawks come back and force a Game 7.

And they’d play hard. Both of these teams gave 100% during the 65:47 minutes they played, all the way into overtime, where Alec Martinez would put an end to the Blackhawks&r...

Blackhawks fight to keep season going

Tonight, the Kings have their first chance to win the series against the Blackhawks, and to earn a spot in the Stanley Cup Final. Game 5 will be played in Chicago, after 4 games that saw the Kings take a 3-1 series lead.

The Blackhawks, in the past 3 games, have been mostly outplayed and outshot, despite individual efforts across the board to keep the team in the games. But the Kings have seemed stronger and simply playing better, taking less penalties, more disciplined than the Blackhawks.

Blackhawks to try and take Game 3 in LA

The Blackhawks are headed to Los Angeles to play Game 3 of the Western Conference Final against the LA Kings, who beat the Hawks on Chicago ice last Wednesday. The Kings won 6-2, scoring 5 goals in the last frame of the game.

The Blackhawks’ defense struggled in the last period of Game 2 against a determined, offensive-minded LA team. After dominating for most of the game and scoring twice, the Blackhawks let the game get away from them. They should be very eager to try and get one or two away from the Kings while playing in Lo...

High-intensity game goes to Blackhawks in Western Conference Final's Game 1

The Western Conference Finals this year feels very much like déja-vu - a rematch from 2013’s WCF, with the Blackhawks facing the Los Angeles Kings once more. The Kings have dispatched the Anaheim Ducks in 7 games in their second round, while the Blackhawks went through a difficult round against the Minnesota Wild, which they finished in 6 games. And now the match-up to the Stanley Cup Final is the same as last year, where the Blackhawks won in 5.

There is no question that both teams have excelled during the regular season, as ...

Blackhawks take 3-2 series lead after UC boos them awake in Game 5

The Blackhawks are not used to being booed in their own building, but it happened tonight, after 20 minutes of poor play. It shook the team up, and led them to a win, after losing 2 consecutive game against the Wild in the second round of the playoffs. The Hawks are the first team, in this round, to get scored on first, and still win the game.

The Hawks and Wild were back in Chicago for Game 5. Andrew Shaw is still not playing, and Brandon Bollig has been suspended for 2 games after boarding Keith Ballard in Game 4. However, Peter R...

Blackhawks take 2-0 series lead over Wild

In a surprise twist at the end of the first round of the playoffs, the Minnesota Wild dispatched the favorites Colorado Avalanche to advance to the second round, facing the Chicago Blackhawks. Last year, the Blackhawks were the ones to end the Wild’s playoffs hopes in the first round, and this year, they’re hoping to do it again.

And after this game, they’re 2 wins away from succeeding. The Blackhawks have taken Game 2 of the series, leading the Wild 2-0 as they all head to Minnesota to play Games 3 and 4. Another st...

Blackhawks win series and advance to 2nd round with blowout 5-1 win in Game 6

Game 6 was the first chance for the Blackhawks to eliminate the St Louis Blues from the playoffs, in a series eerily reminiscent of the Blues’ first round last year, against the Los Angeles Kings. And even if this game would play out slightly differently than last year’s, it’d be the last game the Blues would play in this year’s playoffs, as the Blackhawks took a 5-1 one victory thanks to a 3rd period completely dominated by the Hawks where they’d score 4 goals.

The first frame saw Brent Seabrook come ba...

Blackhawks take series lead with yet another OT win

Two games ago, the Blackhawks’ playoffs hopes may have seemed low, when the St Louis Blues took the first two games, but since then, the Hawks have rebounded. They took the two games at the United Center, making it a tied series 2-2, and then headed back to the Scottrade Center for Game 5.

And just like most games in this series, this game would go to overtime, and Captain Jonathan Toews would be the one to take the game for the Blackhawks, 7:36 mins into the first overtime, a breakaway goal set up by defenseman Duncan Keith. Th...

Game 2 only takes 1OT for Blues to capture 2-0 lead in series against Blackhawks

After an incredibly intense, well-balanced Game 1 which went all the way into a 3OT situation, the Blackhawks and Blues are meeting again for Game 2 of the 1st round of the playoffs. The Blues took the first game with a game winning goal 26 seconds into the 3rd overtime period, making it the longest game their franchise ever played, at over 100 minutes.

Game number 2 would be ultimately taken by the Blues in overtime, in a brutal game that saw Chicago take 10 penalties and St Louis 6, and the lead change from the Blues, to the Hawks, and bac...
