The All-Star Game Travels to...Columbus?

So another mind-numbingly boring All Star game has come and gone.  As in years past, the game has proven to be of interest only to the local fans that live in the host city.  But I can’t really fault the NHL for it being so boring, nobody wants to see anybody injured in an exhibition game, and without any kind of physical play, there can’t really be any good entertainment.  But something very interesting did come out of this weekend’s game; the decision to host next year’s event in Columbus, Ohio.

In my mind, Columbus is the weakest team in the league right now.  A lot of the relocation or failing franchise talk is centered on Phoenix, cur...

An NHL All-Star Game Mock Draft

One of the exciting things about the NHL All-Star Game, and perhaps, it's uniqueness so to say is the fact it touches back on our childhood.

Remember the days of playing pick-up hockey, or sports for that matter. You throw your sticks into the circle and someone would randomly toss a stick to each side and that would be the team you played for that day.

Well, unfortunately there will be no sticks in the ring but the sentiment is still there. Tonight at 8 PM, the NHL will hold it's second All-Star Game under the new formula: a draft-style that enables two captains to choose which all-stars they want on their squad.

As you may very well know, on top of the 42 players that will be particating in the actual All-Star Game on Sunday, the league also selects twelve rookies to join those players for the Skills Competition the night before. Adam Larsson of the New Jersey Devils has arguably been the best rookie defenseman this season, and he wa...

Snub? Hartnell continues case to be All-Star Sub

Last week, many were outraged when the results of the fan voting portion of the All-Star team was announced.

With this year’s game being held in Ottawa, it was clearly evident that fans of the hometown team stuffed the ballet box when four of the six starters turned out to be Senators.

For fans of the Philadelphia Flyers, it was surprising that their star player Claude Giroux hadn’t been given the honor of being an All-Star starter.

Now, one week later and there is another Flyers player on the outside looking in.

Flyers Send Four to All-Star Game

Claude Giroux, Kimmo Timonen, Matt Read and Sean Couturier have all been selected to this year's All-Star Game.

Matt Brigidi updates you on the announcement and discusses the possibility of Giroux being the first overall sleection
