Top 10 games to look forward to on the Blackhawks' calendar

The Chicago Blackhawks open their championship-defending season on Tuesday, October 1st versus the Washington Capitals. Needless to say, that game will be the number one ticket on Blackhawks' fans lists when regular season single-game tickets go on sale Monday morning, as Chicago has earned the right to raise a handful of banners that night - tops among them, the 2013 Stanley Cup banner.

Three years ago, Capitals forward Troy Brouwer stood on the Blackhawks side of the ice, part of the 2010 Cup-winning team. Now he will return on the visitors' side, as part of a team that is still chasing their first Cup since being founded in 1974. The team will be hungry to mak...

Game Preview: Showdown in Anaheim

Preview: There could be a lot on the line for tonight’s Southern California battle. The Kings (22-13-3; 47 points) make the short trip to Anaheim to take on the Ducks (25-8-5; 55 points) tonight at 6. Tonight’s contest marks the final ten games in the season for both teams. Los Angeles currently sits in second place in the Pacific Division trailing the Ducks by eight points. The Kings final game against Anaheim will be next Saturday at the Staples Center.

Since the winner of each division is reserved a top three seed for the playoffs winning the Pacific Division provides plenty of advantages. A chance to pick up two points on the Ducks and set the ton...

Ducks Sweep Blackhawks in 2-1 Victory

The Chicago Blackhawks fell to the Anaheim Ducks for the third time this season, giving the Ducks the series sweep with a 2-1 victory in the United Center.  The win comes as sweet relief for the hungry Ducks, who were 0-4 since their last bout with the Hawks, including a 4-0 shutout loss to the San Jose Sharks.   Chicago briefly regained their 5 point lead in the Western Conference, only to have the Ducks within striking distance again after tonight's loss.   RECAP: The first period ended with the two teams scoreless and tied with 9 SOGs a piece.  Corey Perry was the first to put a point on the board for the Ducks to liven u...

Game Preview: Flames vs Anaheim Ducks

The Flames will look to continue one streak while trying to end another tonight when they head into Anaheim to face the Ducks. The Flames have not won in Anaheim in fifteen straight visits but are playing their best hockey of the season and will look to extend their winning streak to a season-high three games. The Ducks are one of the surprises so far in this shortened season, sitting in 2nd place in the West, and at the top of the Pacific Division.

Hawks at Home: Blackhawks v Ducks Game Preview

CHI v. ANA - Game Preview

02/12/13

7:30pm CST

There was a lot of talk at the top of this season about the tough schedule the Chicago Blackhawks had ahead of them with 10 of their first 12 games on the road.  Recalling the hard luck the Hawks faced away from home last season still...

Game Preview: Kings Vs Anaheim Ducks

Preview:

The Kings (2-2-2; 6 points) make the short trip to Anaheim to play the Ducks (4-1-1; 9 points) tonight at 7. The Ducks beat the Minnesota Wild last night,3-1, thanks to the Kyle Palmieri, Teemu Selanne, and Bobby Ryan line which generated all three goals. The Kings lost 2-1 to the Predators Thursday in a shootout and have gotten points their last four games.

It's been an unimpressive start by the Kings who have failed to score and create constant pressure. The Ducks are a formidable opponent with a self less, high powered offense but have holes on the defensive end that the Kings will have to exploit to win. A win against a local rival with a less than daunting pe...

Long Island: Lub it or Leave it

The recent news of Lubomir Visnovsky filing a grievance with the NHLPA has Islander fans hanging their heads in despair. He has filed a grievance in an attempt to uncover a “No Trade Clause” that wasn’t honored at the time of the trade. It’s hard to decide if the actual news was the most painful or the fact that the Rangers netted Rick Nash for a bag of sweet tarts and a draft pick in a similar time frame. For playing under the same city name, the Rangers and Islanders could not be more different at the moment. Consistently, the Rangers keep improving on an already well stocked roster. They are able to speed up the process of rebuilding with their young players by pairing them with proven and perennial All Stars. It is a formula that leaves the Islanders in the dust.

In terms of young, raw talent the Islanders have the edge. However, an unproven stock- pile of draft picks does not win many games. The Rangers are able to introduce young players into the fold while adding great players in their prime.

It is like the Islanders rebuild plan but on steroids.

Game Preview: Flames vs Anaheim Ducks

Life for the Calgary Flames doesn’t get any easier tonight as they head into Anaheim to face the Ducks, to conclude their mini two-game road trip. The Flames return to Anaheim for the second time this season, a place where they haven’t won since 2004, going 0-9-5 during that stretch. This is the third of four meetings between the two clubs, as they have split the first two games, each winning on home ice. Both teams are scratching and clawing, trying to keep their playoff hopes alive. The Flames, after their victory in Phoenix last night, got within two points of the 8th place Dallas Stars, while the Ducks currently sit 7 points back.

Hawks look to rally against Ducks

With only 19 games left for the Blackhawks every game heading down the stretch becomes huge. The Hawks must find a way to rebound from the last two games against Dallas and LA. Heading down the home stretch to make a playoff run somehow the Hawks need to get points in all of these remaining games.

Anaheim is currently in 13th place in the Western Conference but has been making a significant push as of late and is only 6 points out of a playoff spot. On the other side the Hawks have been finding new ways to lose to teams who they should be beating and must stop this trend.

This will be the final meeting of the year between these two teams. In their pre...
