Blackhawks prepare to take on Vancouver

With just six games remaining and a just a single point separating the Blackhawks from the St. Louis Blues and home ice advantage, the wins have never been more important for Chicago. Thursday night’s tilt against the Canucks will be the third time the Blackhawks will have faced Vancouver this season, but they’ve dropped both previous contests this year.

Despite the absence of Patrick Kane, the Blackhawks have managed to keep their scoring up and had a pr...

Crawford steals two points for Blackhawks against Hurricanes

Corey Crawford stole a game for the Chicago Blackhawks that they had no business winning, making 43 stops in a 3-1 victory against the Carolina Hurricanes. Andrew Shaw scored twice and Patrick Sharp also added a goal as the Hawks moved to within two points of the Nashville Predators and St. Louis Blues in the Central Division.

Carolina, well out of the playoff race in the Eastern Conference, looked every bit like the team in ‘rebuilding’ mode in the first...

Blackhawks wash away Islanders; head to NYC to face Rangers

The Blackhawks are 5-0-1 in March (8-1-1 in their past ten) and have outscored opponents 19-8 in the past six games.

Patrick Kane who?

Corey Crawford has gone .961 sv% in March. The top line of Jonathan Toews, Marian Hossa, and Patrick Sharp is suddenly on fire. The power play is scoring, the penalty kill has been doing its thing.

The switch, as they say, has been flipped.

Chicago didn't steamroll the Islanders, but they played a very solid game against one of the best teams in the East. Jaroslav Halak and Nick Leddy were out for the Isles due to injuries. Jonathan Toews and Marian Hossa scored two goals apiece.

Andrew Shaw left t...

Blackhawks shut out again vs Wild

The Blackhawks needed to start off solidly against the MN Wild after their annual Vegas trip. They certainly didn't expect to find themselves in an 0-2 hole after just 10 minutes of play -- or to suffer their second consecutive shutout loss, the first time that has happened since 2006.

Mikko Koivu opened the scoring unassisted at 7:40 in the first period. Jason Zucker would make it 2-0 at the 10-minute mark, and Mikael Granlund would put the final nail in the coffin late in the second.

However, one goal was all they needed, as the Wild held the Blackhawks to just 24 SOG. Compare that to the Wild, who had 24 SOG in the second period alone. Usually, it's the ot...

Blackhawks wrap up 2014 with roller-coaster game vs Preds

As the Blackhawks played their final game of 2014 - and their last game before the Winter Classic - it was a roller coaster game against the Nashville Predators.

First came the deep plunge of going down 3-0 in the first half of the game. Roman Josi opened up Nashville's scoring on an even-handed goal at 11:50. Craig Smith would stretch out the lead to 2-0 at 17:12. Finally, ten minutes of play later, James Neal would score his first of the night to make it 3-0.

But the Blackhawks weren't about to lay down and take it. Brad Richards scored a few minutes later to get the Blackhawks on the board, 3-1. Andrew Shaw would have his first goal in several games to mak...

Blackhawks continue circus trip success with win vs Avs

The Blackhawks haven't had a lot of success versus the Avalanche in the past year, or in Denver. But they pulled out a decent 3-2 win tonight, which makes them 3-1-0 thus far on this year's circus trip.

Scoreless through nearly halfway through the second, Max Talbot opened the scoring for the Avs.

Joanthan Toews tied it up for Chicago a few minutes later on the power play, and then Andrew Shaw made it 2-1 Blackhawks on another power play just 2-1/2 minutes later.

Ryan O'Reilly made it a tie game with an EV goal 3:36 into the third. Bryan Bickell scored the go-ahead goal for Chicago with 5:17 remaining - this one Chicago's first EV goal of t...

Hawks start circus trip off with a win

The Hawks got contributions from all over the lineup Thursday night as they earned a hard-fought victory against the Calgary Flames, a team that has continued to surprise this season. Despite a late upper-body injury that kept Andrew Shaw out of the lineup, the Hawks found a way to win as Patrick Kane scored his second game-winning goal in as many games to cap Chicago’s 4-3 victory while netminder Corey Crawford made 24 stops.

Hawks to face off against Flyers

The Hawks will face the Flyers for the first time this season, and the seasons couldn’t have started differently for the two teams.

The Flyers won their first game of the season just three days ago, finishing a dramatic comeback against the Dallas Stars in overtime thanks to captain Claude Giroux, but their record is still just 1-2-2, which has them sitting at seventh in the Metropolitan division and tied for thirteenth in th...

This is it: Hawks and Kings go to Game 7

It’s all come down to a one-game, winner-takes-all epic showdown at the Madhouse on Sunday night, and the hype couldn’t be higher for the Blackahwks/Kings showdown for Game 7.  The Hawks took a nerve-wracking Game 6 with a score of 4-3, sending the series back to the United Center, where the winner of Game 7 will move on to the Stanley cup final for the second time in the last three years to face the New York Rangers.  This will be the King’s third Game 7 of the playoffs, after taking both the San Jose Sharks and the Anaheim Ducks to seven games in their previous two playoff series.
