It was only a few short weeks ago that the Montreal Canadiens and their contingent of rowdy fans stormed into the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum and halted an Islanders 4 game-winning streak with a 3-1 victory. Fast-forward to tonight and the Islanders (30-13-1) are on another 4 game winning streak, and once again are set to square off against the Canadiens (27-13-3). Only difference is, the Isles and their raucous supporters are traveling north of the border looking to extend the streak to 5.
The Montreal Canadiens will look to bounce back from a slightly embarrassing 3-2 shootout loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday evening, as they prepare to face the Vancouver Canucks at the Bell Centre.
Logic would dictate that the Habs will be looking at another loss after tonight's game, but this team doesn't exactly follow the laws of physics. If this season has proven anything, it's that when their backs are up against the wall (i.e., the coach's job seems to be in jeopardy), this team will bust out a win against the most unlikely opponent. It happened in Winnipeg when the Canadiens beat the Jets in their long-awaited home opener. It happened...
Following Tuesday night's 3-2 shootout loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets at the Bell Centre, the world of the season for the Montreal Canadiens may have changed from "inconsistency" to "redundancy".
You don't have to look too far back in the archives here at TCL to notice that most of the writers haven't exactly been happy with the level of effort the team has been showing on most nights. Win or lose, there always seems to be something major to complain about with every passing game. Either they're barely holding on for win, or simply unable to score any goals or play consistently for sixty minutes.
Pittsburgh Penguins Vs. Montreal CanadiensBell Centre
The Pittsburgh Penguins and the Montreal Canadiens will both play their 24th games tonight. The season is over quarter of the way over. The newness of the season, the apprehension of how the new players will fit in and the tension of how each team will start is over. Now it’s time to honestly look at the team and see exactly where each stands.
I am sure you have heard this before but to start with we must remember that the Penguins have been without the league’s best player, Sidney Crosby, for most of the season. The Habs have been without Andrei Markov and a slew of secon...
When the Boston Bruins are in town, you can bet that things are bound to get a little... eventful. In fact, you'd be hard pressed to find a game between the two teams that doesn't feature some sort of controversial incident. We don't need to remind you about what happened last March between these two teams, or their countless playoff series against each other.
So, last night, with the Bruins at the Bell Centre, and a hotly contested 1-0 game at stake, something felt like it was in the air, as if things were about to go down.
The only problem is that what happened next wasn't on the ice, as you'd expect, but in the stands. The following video, courtesy of (w...
