The Isles, in the midst of a seven game home stand, have points in their last three games, all of which have been on home ice. The Pittsburgh Penguins Display The Problems With NHL Officiating

The NHL fined the Isles last year $100,000 for the brawl game vs. the Pens, but the Pens did not get fined anything despite a player leaving the bench as a sixth skater to join a fight on the ice - which, by the way, means the head coach should be suspended for one game - he wasn't. But owner Mario Lemieux stated that the NHL didn't do enough to punish the Isles for that disgrace of a game.
Keep in mind that Matt Martin and Trevor Gillies received suspensions. They rightfully deserved them, and Godard got the 10 games required for leaving the bench, but the Penguins didn't receive any other suspensions or fines of any kind.
Lemieux, despite the one-sided disciplinary action, still felt that the league didn't do enough.

Rangers Blank Isles 3-0

On Christmas Eve Saturday, New Yorkers everywhere tuned in as the New York Giants faced the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium. Despite getting off to an excellent start, scoring a touchdown on their opening drive, the Jets looked very much like the weaker of the two teams all game long. They could not find a big play when they needed it, and made key mistakes – none larger than Victor Cruz’s 99 yard TD catch – which cost them the game.

On Monday night at Madison Square Garden two Atlantic division rivals faced off, and again New Yorkers tuned in to watch their teams compete. This time it was the New York Rangers facing the New York Islanders. And despite a few stretches of the game where the Islanders looked to control the play, the reality is that like the Jets, they played their part of weaker team to the Rangers for the majority of the game.

Even though signing Brad Richards was summer priority number one and he is officially signed, sealed and delivered to Manhattan, the Rangers still have a lot of work to do in preparation for the start of the 2011-2012 regular campaign. With five key RFA's, four of whom filed for arbitration, Slats still has some work to do before heading off on his annual summer vacation.

Many Rangers fans were nervous about the RFA's and rightfully so. Just two years ago Brandon Dubinsky was embroiled in a contentious negotiation with the club and his situation was not resolved until after the start of training camp.
