Blackhawks force game 7 with 4-3 win in Detroit

The Blackhawks got off to a solid start in game six, the kind that won them game five. Marian Hossa got a power play goal just 3:53 into the first to give them a leg up. Chicago was controlling the puck, pressuring the Red Wings, and outshooting Detroit.

Patrick Eaves tied it up by putting the Red Wings on the board with just 1:09 left in the first.

Chicago let the Red Wings dictate the pace of the game in the second. Detroit drew even on shots on goal, then by the end of the period, were outshooting the Blackhawks 28-20. The Red Wings also owned the faceoff dot through two, at 65%.

In Saturday's game, it was said that by the time the Blackhawks were u...

Blackhawks decisively win game 5 to extend series

The Detroit Red Wings had a chance to knock the Chicago Blackhawks out of the playoffs tonight, but the Blackhawks weren't about to have that happen on home ice.

Playing some of their best hockey all year, with crisp passing and solid net-front presence, Bryan Bickell opened the scoring late in the first, knocking in a rebound by Detroit goalie Jimmy Howard.

Daniel Cleary would even up the score 1-1 about halfway through the second, off a Corey Crawford rebound.

However, the big story of the night is that the Blackhawks scored not once but twice on the power play tonight: the first by Andrew Shaw (Drew Miller penalty) and then team captain Jonathan Toe...

Blackhawks slam the door on the Blues in 2-0 Shutout

As the Blackhawks faced another division opponent and another team desperate for points to make the playoffs, it was the Hawks that remained standing at the bell. Coming into the game it was the St. Louis netminder Brian Elliott who was coming into the game with a shutout streak but the Hawks not only answered they pitched a shutout for themselves.

Corey Crawford gets the shutout but the entire team played solid defense in front of him.  It’s not that the Hawks didn’t make mistakes it’s that they covered for each other when they got in trouble and continue to improve their team game that is impressive.

Blackhawks historic streak continues with 5-3 win vs the Wild

The Blackhawks took their record to 20-0-3 on Tuesday night, and set a new team record while they were at it: for the first time in 86 years of team history, the Blackhawks have won 10 games in a row.

It was a special night in Chicago to begin with. The team celebrated Marian Hossa's 1,000th career game (played Sunday in Detroit) with a short pre-game ceremony. Hossa was presented with a silver hockey stick to commemorate his achievement as well as a painting of him hoisting the Stanley Cup; chants of "Hos-sa, Hos-sa," rained down from the rafters.

After that, it was time to get down and play hockey.

Chicago didn't open the scoring, but t...
